Would it look trashy to have a Little Tikes picnic table in my dining room?

Summer is almost over and I took in the outdoor toys from the patio. my son is 16 months now and could really use a toddler table and chairs for his snacks, and in the future, for crafts. so I put his Plastic picnic table in my dining room. It is a in great condition (I bought it used so is sun faded). we have hardwood, so I put some of those little foam alphabet mats under it.

This is a picture of it only mine is yellow and orange: http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-…

Your opinion or thoughts?

i think it would be a great idea, especially if you have a young child who will using it often. It may not look great in the dining room, but your other table will get damaged if you dont. Its only for the winter, and then you can bring back outside again. I actually think the table looks kinda cute...

I dedicated a corner of my living room for all of my daughter's toys. I don't see anything wrong with having a little picnic table. I have a friend who lives in an apartment building so to keep her daughter occupied, she bought a little slide and that was in her living room!

I think a table just your child's size is a great idea. what fun it will be for Thanksgiving if you have the meal at your house, all the kids can have their very own special table. you can even decorate it for them just as you decorate the adult table.

When you have children, you can do lots of things that would normally look trashy, and it's not trashy. If you're selling your house, however, you want to move personal stuff (like the table) out of the room though.

no it's not trashy. i have lots of family with little kids that have a little tykes table in the dining room or living room. u have kids. and that's not trashy lol

If it doesn't bother you, it shouldn't bother anyone else. Kid's stuff should be expected in a home with small children, and meeting his needs is more important than impressing your friends. I say, go for it.

I don't think it would be bad at all. In fact, we did the same thing. you have a child and they need a place to play, eat, etc. I say bring it in and enjoy having a place just for him.

I think as a parent, you have to do what you have to do. we sacrifice all kids of stuff so that our kids can have fun things. even style. I say bring the table inside. it will be fun for him.

i bring mine in for the winter but i put it in his play room. if your concerned about carpet getting stained then you can use a mat .

No, why would you think that. It is for your kid and that is all that matters. Don't worry about what other people think.

I think that's a great idea, if you have the extra room for it! Not trashy at all. Practical is more like it!

wouldn't worry too much about it...if its useful, use it.

no its for your lil one not you :)

not at all...if anyone knows you they are going to know you have a son....things like that are expected :)

Is your dining room next to the much smaller kitchen? will you be in the dining room, eating at your 'adult table' when your son is eating his snacks, or will you be doing something else in that room? I love the idea of having a 'child sized' table for a youngster like yours, and having 'snacks' there is an excellent idea, but ... you must feed the child his meals at the 'big table' and you must eat at least two meals a day at the same time, and sit and 'converse' with any other adults in the household as well as your little one. Make sure that your son uses good table manners, even when eating his snacks, and be sure that he has friends who can come over and occasionally share a snack at his little table while playing. This is an excellent way to teach a baby to 'eat properly' at a table without hurting the 'big people's table' ... just keep an eye on your son and don't let him develop any 'bad habits' ... and move the table to a closet when you have adults with no children over, because they just 'won't understand' unless they are also parents or grandparents.

It would be fairly unclassy to have the child's picnic table in your dining room. I would suggest putting it in the basement, or another spare room where it won't be as on display for when friends come over.

dont revolve your life around your kids...
put it in his room for crafts & make him eat at the table w/ you for meals-
