Wood Furniture refinishing / sealing?

I was given have a Duncan Phyfe style dining room table that is Mahogany (not veneer) solid wood, approximately 70 y/o. We use this set as our everyday table. it gets a white water stain immediately whenever any water touches the table even if I dry it right away. I have used Howard's Restore-A-Finish which removes the white marks but how do I seal the table so this doesn't happen. We would like to be able to use the table without being so careful and paranoid of drips every meal. I would prefer not to have to completely refinish the table. also, I want to make sure I don't use a product that will ruin the finish.

Use Spar varnish that will repel water. it is used on old wood boats.I have used it on old furniture. Sit aglass on it and no ring developes. for further protection use a plastic tablecloth. Jo-Ann fabrics sells wide clear plastic in various weights. I prefer the flannel backed standard.

You could try Tung oil, its waterproof, that may help it.
