When recovering seats on dining room chairs what direction should the pattern go?

I'm recovering my upholstered dining room chairs' seats. the old seats were covered in a solid color. the new fabric I bought has a floral, tapestry type pattern with a definite top and bottom. Should the top of the pattern go at the back (where your back goes) or the front (where your legs go) of the seat? the backs are not upholstered. Thanks!!

Treat the back (where your back goes) as the top.

Have the pattern start from the back. if it is the other it will look upside down.

I think the top of the pattern should go where your back is, but I'm sure you could do it whatever way you think it looks best.
