i live in a terraced house and as you most probably know 90% of them are open plan with the dining room,
i have ideas for the dining room, i am going for greens, with a walnut/beech dining table with cream chairs, but obviously the living room follows through so the colour schemes have to match, in the living room i have beech floor and a black couch. i don't want greens right the way through so what would you suggest?
Love the colours...you already have the beech colouring to join the rooms with that so...I would opt for cream throw, patterned linen or light curtains containing a bit of green/brown/black with the cream as the main background colour..glass vase with white flowers (you get the white and green from this). just join the colours of the two rooms with subtle things..not too many...black framed art or photos in both rooms if possible to ground the black couch or a black iron decorative piece..anything like that will work. Simple pieces, keeps the look tied together and classic looking. Add something then stand back to see if you need more..plants can bring a room together too, so think about one with a coordinated vase...lighting/lamps will definately blend the rooms together too, so keep that in mind if choosing overhead and floor lighting.
I have a similar color pattern in my home. my kitchen has wainscoting to the chair rail which is painted Library Pewter (a brown), above that is a beautiful green. An open stairway leads to the second floor from the kitchen, The stair wall is a deep cherry color. All accent furnishings in the kitchen are black as is the stair rail. my dining and living rooms are painted a Tuscan orange: http://www.pbase.com/giancarlob/image/63…
I use every door frame or window as a frame to transition the colors I chose. wherever I sit, when I look through the door or window it must appear as a piece of art work to complement the room I'm in.
What colour scheme should i choose?
