My cats were outdoor/indoor but for the last year they have been indoor only?

They have been indoor only because we live in an area with a lot of coyotes and hawks and mountain lions. however, I am moving back to where we used to live and I was wondering would they still be okay going outside there or have they lost their outdoor instincts from being inside for so long? they do not really like being indoors all the time. they scratch my furniture and fight with each other. I have bought many scratching posts but they really just like my dining room table legs. can they be outdoor pets again?

Cats are very independent and have minds of their own. they are also very curious about new environments. When you let them outside again, do it slowly. Take one at a time outside and watch him/her carefully as they sniff and look around. after a brief time outside, take them back in again. they will look out the window a lot and probably meow. The next day, let them out for a little longer. after a couple of days they will be fine and you can let them explore on their own. they will choose whether they want to spend more time inside or outside themselves.
