I painted my dining room red Need colors to go with red and decorating ideas- artwork, curtains, place setting

The walls are red and i need ideas: does oak wood furniture work well or something darker. What colors work well for table settings, curtains. any ideas, pictures would be helpful and greatly appreciated

I would go with black and white prints for hangings on the wall or you could do some wrought iron pieces in black that would look great against red also. Try to use as little color everywhere in the room to let the red be your statement or everything will just look too jumbled.

Golds/yellows always look great with red. That's what's in my dining room (with a bit of mossy green). my furniture is dark wood. I think any furniture would be fine as long as the style compliments the rest of the room's decor.

Bronze looks nice with red as well as some shades of green. Cream (like french vanilla) would be lovely if you want to avoid adding more color.

As far as table settings go, I have white for everyday and cream w/gold trim china. They always go with everything. If you want something new, think about whether or not you'll have a tablecloth on all the time or just when you eat. Your dishes should not compete with you table linens.

For art, just find something you like and make sure it's big since the rest of the furniture in there is big. Do be afraid to be dramatic, people find that fun in a dining room even though they might not do it in the rest of their house.

that's easy black and white, those three colors look sooooo good together!!!!

here's a link to them on ebay.

dark earth tones are natural colors(brown green etc.) just darker

okay so for your room i suggest a stain(like cherry) on you oak then for place settings and accents do a LIGHT green and LIGHT LIGHT browns to balence off the dark

Dark colors would be ok depending on degree of natural light. Black (ebony) would look nice with red as would walnut or the oak. Stone would look nice for the table (e.g., marble or granite) or glass with black frame work. Sticking with all white, black, and red would be very metropolitan. If you have true oak furniture, I'd work with it and not try to change it.

Dark earth tones (browns, deep muddy greens) would give it a richer look, something like olde world Europe or Moroccan.

Blue, yellow, green would be very eclectic and youthful.

Red is so lovely with black and white toile. for a breakfast room, I combined a black and white toile fabric with a rooster print and black and white stripe fabric (mattress ticking). One of my friends liked it so much that she used the same color combination in her bedroom, minus the roosters!

I like the dark woods with the red or the very light to give a contrast
