Someone sat in one and left the stain from there jeans. my question is does anyone know the steps to upholstering with durable clear color plastic. I would like to achieve as close as possible a professional look. I understand that I will need a heating gun. Why?

Please don't use plastic; it'll ruin the whole look. Instead go to a fabric store and buy a cheap remnant of a fabric you love. I change the look of my chairs once or twice a year this way. it looks so much better than plastic and you can change it according to the season.
I don't know about upholstering, but why don't you try just cleaning the seat cushion and getting (or making) some chair covers? they look really classy, and you can change them to give your dining set a little face lift when you get tired of one type.
I made the mistake of buying a dining room set that has light colored cushioned chairs.?
