I have off-white upholstery on my cherry wood dining room chairs. How do I clean them?

They have stains on them. I have tried a stain remover and steam cleaner. it mostly gets them clean except for the stains. I am afraid to use a bleach/water solution. any suggestions?

Some white upholstery absorbs dye from clothing, etc. that becomes a permanent stain and may not ever be removed completely. If you know all the stains are food stains, for example, search for removers for that particular type of stain, such as greasy, tomatoey, etc. If it is some other type of stain, say coffee, and the fabric is cotton type, not synthetics, there is a RIT color remover that works well, but I think you'd have to take the covers off to soak them.

I know this might sound crazy, but try some peroxide. let it soak for a little bit, then use a wet cloth to wipe clean. My son cut his finger last year and got blood on my white carpet, and someone told me to use peroxide and it really worked, so I'm sure it's worth a shot. good luck

Immediately after my wife reupholstered our dining chairs with white fabric we called our toddler grandson in for supper from playing in the back yard. After supper we discovered he had been stuffing mulberries in his back pockets! Anyway good luck.
