I have this set of 6 very plain light colored wood chairs. They got left outside most of this past summer (in the Arizona sun!) and are now lightly cracked and discolored. Functionnal, but not esthetic.
I want to make them look nice, but not sure how. I can sew, altough am no expert, but don't know where to find instructions on how to make cushions. I also thought about painting them, but I am worried it'll look tacky.
Any advice?
put a nice dark brown varnish or lacquer on them and it will look fine.
10 points please!!!
Easy,my friend. buy some strips of cushion and some material that you like. You may get some remnants, which would save money. you may choose to do each chair a different pattern, that blend with the other items in the room. Get a tack gun,and you are in business. as for the wood itself....you may want to sand it down and then add a coat of whatever that stuff is called..varnish,maybe? The fun part is in the cushion. who knows, with that being done, the wood may take on a new look to you. You may actually dig it.ou know, an old but very cool ,look.
Regarding another question of yours..I tried to email but it wouldn't go through: if you are prone to seasickness, it is better to be as low as possible and as close to the center of the ship as possible. Bon voyage, friend.
This is what I did.
you can get seat cushions which tie on, so they can be removed for cleaning.
Lightly sand the wood and then use a beeswax to bring out the luster of the wood without having to varnish or paint them. if there is already a cushion on them, flip the chair over and remove the cushion from the chair (you will find some screws or nails that you can remove). Pick up some materal (remnants are great for this) and some batting at your local fabric store. Put a layer of batting over the the old cushion and a piece of fabric and then either staple or tack it into place, folding the material to fit the cushion. Put it back on your chair and you have some very nice chairs again.
I am looking for a way to embelish some worned wooden dining chair?
