How to paint/wallpaper LR/dining area?

I live in a small 2 br apt with great lake and park views in chicago. My LR is combined with a dining nook. The room is 16 n. to s.x27 e.to w. The room is laid out as follows; front door and dining nook on the w. wall with a table for two, hall to kitchen to the right leading S. then the S. wall of the living room is about 15ft and completely filled with three book cases with a flat tv in the middle on wall w/ ent. systm under it. E. wall is a large patio door and focal point of the room with great views of the lake and park w/balcony. The N. wall has a msg. chair in black w/wood arms then my couch (big poufy in leather) and at the end of the wall a 3' side table. a love seat to match couch makes an L of the couch table area. The leather is a tan/tobacco color, not dark but not light, almost has an orng. hue to it. a small buttler coffee table sits in front of the seating. All wood is a redish brown, bookcs are the leaning open modern type. Curtains are a deep ruby red. c below
