I bought some dining room furniture and the previous owners were smokers. it is glass and wood. I have cleaned all surfaces but everything still smell the smoke.what can I use?. Air freshners, Fabreeze and plug ins just mask the smell. it is still there.
Try making a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water. Then dip a rag in the mixture and squeeze it out so it's not dripping but pretty wet. Use the rag on the wood parts to clean it. Let it dry naturally don't use a dry cloth on it. You'll want to use a good quality furniture polish after it dries to replenish the oils that the cleaning process removed.
Then for the glass use the same mixture of vinegar and water but put it in a spray bottle and use it like you would glass cleaner but spray the entire surface and wipe it clean.
Hi there,
Alcohol-rich substances for glass, alcohol-free products for wood. Don't use vinegar before trying it on a small piece of furniture; it could ruin your furniture's finishing. another simple solution is... milk.
The idea is that you can't really get rid of it. you can cover it. Alcohol solves this, but it can also affect the lacquer. Milk, on the other hand, doesn't, and the effects are reasonable.
And, of course, a lot of air.
Hope this helps,

Try natural cleaners like baking soda, lemon and vinegar. Forget about those toxic products they do half the work and end up making you sick-Best of luck Melinda
