How do you think this kitchen idea would look?

White Cabinets(with brushed nickel hardware), Stainless steel appliances, black granite countertops and Hardwoods floors?

I want a modern look, does this sound more retro? Suggestions welcome.

The cabinets will definately be white, and the floors will remain hardwood...anything else is up for debate.

Also ideas on wall colors are welcome. I plan to put in a chair rail for a 2-tone in the dining area.

To me, the black granite countertops seems very 7 years ago. there are better choices. I would go with the latest trend of colored concrete countertops (see #1), personally, in a tone more compatible with floors, you are having almost too much grey and white. I would warm up the room a little. As for the cabinets, I would have frosted glass inserts (very popular in Europe) on all the upper cabinets to be a little more today and add interiors lights on a switch (see #2). The back splash can be just about anything you want. I loved these tiles I saw on one decorating show, I would match what every countertop color you pick. (see #3)

Yes, I know this is my taste.....but it's an option.
