How do I incorporate black/grey/white tones into my red/cream/gold/brown living & dining rooms?

I want to add this family of neutral tones more after seeing my daughter-in-law's condo. I am sick of the browns, golds, creams, but can't afford to replace the furniture, carpet, or trim. our walls are a deep red.

you get rid of the cream ,gold and brown and introduce red ,grey black and white

if your walls are red you already have a good start, all that you need to do is to paint the trims and introduce the other colours

Try replacing older hardware with more neutral tones - you would be surprised at the impact this will make in the room (although it sounds like a small change, I know).

There are several really great sites online that explains this further.

I would start with priming your red walls and paint them white or grey... you can buy a rug in white grey or black to cover the carpet, and then paint your trim white...

the gold should be okay with the white and black...

good luck, paint isn't that expensive and you can get a rug pretty inexpensively.
