We just bought a dining room table & four chairs that have fabric. They absolutely reek.... musty, damp, moldy, disgusting smell. we let them air outside for 3 days, washed them with soap and water, carpet cleaner, sprayed them, and they still stink. It's terrible.
Does anyone know of an effective way to remove odour from fabric? I try and be natural/eco-friendly but I think the only thing that will really get this smell out is harsh chemicals.
And please don't just say Febreeze... that just covers up the smell temporarily, it doesn't work. Tried it.
Thanks for any advice!
It may be DEEPER than the surface of the fabric: It may be the STUFFING that actually has mould that you do not want spreading in your home! RE-upholster or, if you are poor, at least pour a few bottles of rubbing alcohol down through the cushios and REALLy let them DRY out!
Well, since your already washed and shampooed the fabric and it survived, you might want to try boiling white vinegar and scrubbing it into the material with an NEW scrub brush.
if you have a carpet/rug shampooer that would work pretty well. like a bissel or something. helped me clean out my car seats that were quite foul from my sister's dog and cat both throwing up in the back seat. yuck. ha
How do I clean chairs that REALLY smell?
