I’m really worried about my childhood friend. He’s twenty six now and I’ve known him since he was twelve. He works on computer for living and has a blog and occasionally writes for news paper or magazines.
So as long as he can get internet connection or reception on his cell phone, he is able to work anywhere in the world no matter what.
But his life style really scares and bothers me. He has no home at all beside one tiny studio in our city that he owns. it is Spartan, it have next to no furniture, no cooking wares, or anything. He says he easily spent total of less a year in it ever since he purchased it five years ago.
He spends most of his time running all over the world. it is insane. He have got lost in other countries countless times, found himself in middle of minefield, two small airplanes crashes (walked away without a scratches both time!) been caught in middle of a couple crossfire, shoot at a couple time, held at gun point more than a couple time, and many other crazy things. He also have met many shady people such as terrorist, mobster, weapons dealers, soldiers for hire, and other type of people.
I’d understand why he’d enjoy traveling and stuff. but he seems like he spend more time getting in trouble than enjoying his trip. He have spent night in some very nice place, dine at some of the best restaurants in the world, been to some of the most desirable travel spot in world. but he spends more than majority of his time poking his nose in place he shouldn’t be.
Other day I got a call from him, he says he needs me to pick him up from airport tomorrow. Yet today he called me and told me that some group pulled out guns to him and other passengers and forced them to get off the airplane to make room for them. He says since there will probably be no airplane for a while, he’ll be making his way to other city 200 miles away. what really scared me is, he was laughing about the whole airplane getting hijacked thing then he didn’t even seems to be really scared or worried about having to find his own way to a city so far away.
I don’t get this! I don’t understand why he’d live like this? He could easily settle down and live a very decent life but yet he chooses to live like this. what could be driving him to do this?
Friend choose to always get in trouble when he could live a nice lifec?
