A question about Wrought Iron?

I have an adorable dining set (table and chairs) from Pier 1 that is all black wrought iron with a glass top.

Problem is there isn't room for it in the new house I'm moving to...but there is a large covered back porch that is exposed on only one side.

Do you think it will survive okay outside? What happens to wrought iron when it is outside? Does it rust? I'd like to use it again inside when I have a bigger house so I don't want to ruin it.

Thanks

There are ALOT of outdoor settings that are made from wrought iron. I wouldn't be worried about the wrought iron, if there are any other components of it however.

But the wrought iron itself will be fine :)

Shouldn't be a problem. maybe you could close the side in that the table and chairs will be exposed to the weather with roll down blinds or even shade cloth. try not to get the wrought iron to wet because it will rust.

wroght iron survives just fine outside. in fact i think that it is rather in its element when in a garden or on a deck area.

i would look into a sealant however just to prevent oxidizing if you do not want a long clean up effort when you want to move it back inside.

If it's a good solid piece, it will be fine. You could spray it with a sealer if you are too concerned. if it's one of the cheaper pieces like I've seen at Walmart (I haven't seen the wrought iron from pier 1, I would assume it is better quality) It will rust easily.
